There’s another bus getting ready to depart………soon Agile Project Management Practitioner certificates will have a limited shelf life of only 5 years.
What does this mean for me?
If you pass your AgilePM Practitioner exam before 4th June, the validity of your certificate will never expire. However, if you pass the exam after the 4th June, the certificate will only be valid for 5 years after which you will need to take the exam again and obviously pay the relevant fee at that time.
Why is this happening?
According to the APMG newsletter, their UKAS accreditation has been extended to cover AgileBA and AgilePM processes and will need to meet the requirements for ISO 17024 and ISO 17065. The newsletter continues:
Accreditation by UKAS provides confidence and consistency in the high quality of the qualification and supporting processes. It offers assurance to both individual candidates and sponsoring organizations in the quality of training and skills gained through the certification process.
As a result of the extension, Practitioner certifications issued from 4 June 2018 will be limited in their validity to 5 years. To maintain the certification, candidates will need to complete and pass the relevant Re-Registration exam.
What do I need to do?
There are 3 options:
- Pass the Practitioner exam before the 4th June and receive the everlasting certificate.
- Pass the Practitioner exam after 4th June and remember to re-take the exam in 2023 and then in 2028 etc.
- Pass the Practitioner exam at a time of your choosing, work on some high profile Agile projects and reach the status of an Agile Demi-god so that in 5 years’ time your experience will speak for itself and you won’t need to pass the exam again.
